Frequently Asked Questions
Of course, you can always contact us with any questions you may have, but hopefully, these
frequent questions and answers can assist.
What divisions are offered?
At this time, we offer co-ed T-Ball, Minor Coach Pitch, Minor Kid Pitch,
Major, Intermediate and Junior Divisions. Senior Division is open and will
move forward if there is enough interest. Please see the age chart to see
where your player may fall.
When are practices and games?
Practices and games can be any night Monday through Friday or Saturday morning or evening (depending on umpire availability).
Practice schedules will be determined with the assistance of the team manager once teams are put together.
Game schedules will be confirmed a few weeks into practices.
Where are practices and games?
Practices are held at our home fields located behind Cactus Wren Elementary School
(9650 N 39th Ave) for T-Ball – Majors. Intermediate - Seniors practice at Manzanita Elementary
School (8501 N 41st Dr).
Most games will be played at the fields your player practices at, but on occasion we may inter-league with other
Little Leagues in our area and have some games at their fields.
What is the difference between Fall (TAD) Season and Spring Season?
The Fall season is considered Training and Development. Fall provides the opportunity
for players to focus on learning the game, improving skills, and learning Little League
rules all while having fun. Fall is played in a less competitive environment and does
not have end-of-season tournaments. Fall teams are put together based on coach and
friend requests — there is no tryout or draft process.
Spring, however, brings about the competition of baseball. Spring teams for Minors,
Majors, and Juniors are put together using a standard tryout and draft process. Scores
and standings are tracked, and several end-of-season tournaments are played, including
the Little League All-Stars!
How many days a week are required?
CWLL does not allow more than 3 required "events" in a week. Events include both games and practices.
How do I know if I'm in boundaries & why does it matter?
Little League regulates boundaries so each league has an equal opportunity at players
and to properly insure the players in our area. Your player must either reside in or
attend a school within our boundaries.
You can check our
League Boundaries and Residency
page on our website for specifics and for a map of our boundaries.
What is included in my registration fee?
For Fall, players receive their team jersey and hat. Fall is our Training & Development season,
so the fee is reduced.
For Spring, players receive a higher-quality MLB-style uniform shirt, an MLB team hat, and a trophy.
Registration fees also help cover essential costs of running the league, including field rentals,
equipment, utilities (like keeping the lights on), and maintaining safe, playable fields for all teams.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
Little League is 100% volunteer, and we are always looking for volunteers willing to help in
several areas of the league. No experience is needed and most opportunities require little
or no training. We will support and encourage you in any area you would like to volunteer.

Player Draft FAQ (Minors & Above)
Why does my player have to participate in a draft in the spring?
Once players reach the Minors division, Little League requires teams to be formed
through a player draft during the spring season. This ensures fairness, safety,
and balanced competition across all teams.
Why can’t we request a specific coach or friend in Minors and higher?
Friend and coach requests are allowed in Tee Ball and Coach Pitch, but starting in
Minors the division becomes competitive. To keep the league fair for all
players, Little League rules do not allow us to place players based on requests
during the spring season.
Is the draft optional?
No. If your player is registering for Minors or above in the spring season,
participation in the draft is required to be placed on a team.
What benefits does the draft offer my player?
The draft helps create balanced teams and gives every child the chance to:
- Play in competitive, exciting games
- Develop leadership skills
- Learn from different coaching styles
- Make new friends and teammates
- Build confidence in new roles
Many players grow more in their first drafted season than any year before.
Why does Little League require a draft for these divisions?
At the Minors level and above, divisions are considered competitive. The draft
prevents “stacked” teams, encourages fairness, and ensures that all players—
regardless of skill—have an enjoyable and meaningful season.
Can my player still be with their friends at the ballpark?
Absolutely. Even if players end up on different teams, they still practice at the
same fields, hang out before and after games, and meet plenty of new teammates. Friendships
grow quickly in baseball.
Is the draft used for the fall season too?
No. In the fall, families can request coaches or friends in most divisions. The
draft only applies to the spring season for Minors and above.
What if my player is nervous about joining a new team?
That’s completely normal. Kids adjust quickly, and our coaches are great at
welcoming new players. The draft often gives players opportunities to shine in
new roles and build confidence.
